What is Djinn.Djinn/Jinni, plural jinn, also called genie, Arabic jinni, in Arabic mythology, a supernatural spirit below the level of angels and devils. Jinn are beings of flame or air capable of assuming human or animal form and are said to dwell in all conceivable inanimate objects, stones, trees, ruins underneath the earth, in the air, and in fire.

Belief in jinn was common in early Arabia, where they were thought to inspire poets and soothsayers. Even Muhammad(PBUH) originally feared that his revelations might be the work of jinn. Their existence was further acknowledged in official Islam, which showed that they, like human beings, would have to face eventual salvation or damnation.

Jinn, especially through their association with magic, have always been favorite figures in North African, Egyptian, Syrian, Persian, and Turkish folklore and are the centre of an immense popular literature, appearing notably in The Thousand and One Nights. In India and Indonesia, they have entered local Muslim imaginations with the Qurʾānic descriptions and Arabic literature.

However, both Islam and non-Islamic scholarship distinguish between angels, jinn and demons (shayāṭīn) as three different spiritual entities in Islamic traditions. We distinguish the jinn from demons in that they can be both evil and good, while genuine demons are only evil.

POWERS OF JINN / DJINN

Allah has given jinn powers that he has not given to humans. Allah has told us about some of their powers such as the ability to move and travel quickly.

One jinn guaranteed to Prophet Suleiman (Solomon, peace, and blessings be upon him) that he would bring the throne of the Queen of Yemen to Jerusalem in a moment, faster than the time needed for someone to get up from where he was sitting. Allah Almighty says stalwart of the Jinn said: I will bring it thee before thou can rise from thy place.

He may try me whether I give thanks or am ungrateful. Whosoever gives thanks he only gives thanks for (the good of) his soul: and whosoever is ungrateful (is ungrateful only to his own soul’s hurt). For lo! My Lord is Absolute in independence, Bountiful.

Humans and Jinn / Djinn

From all of the known creations of Allah (swt), the Jinn and the Humans are the only two creations with free will. All other creations, the animals, plants etc. they do not have a free will, all they do is worship Allah (swt). Angels do not have a free will either, they are under the direct command of Allah (swt), and they cannot go against this command. Unlike in Christianity, Muslims do not believe that Iblees (Lucifer) was an Angel, because Angels cannot go against the command of Allah (swt).

The normal Jinn are just like us. They eat, drink, go to work, they have families, they give birth, they marry and so on and so forth. They also follow the world religions. Some of them are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu etc.

Jinn / Djinn have the ability to understand and choose between good and evil.

While the Jinn / Djinn are similar to us, there are two major differences between them and us. First of all, the Jinn / Djinn belong to the creations of the unseen. although they can see us.

Jinn Efficiency

Jinns have no original shape and have the ability to take the shape of anything. They tend to take the shape of Dogs and Snakes or of something that terrifies humans, although they don’t actually look that way.
Jinns live in a parallel universe/dimension, giving them the ability to see into our dimension while being invisible to the human eye.
We can only see Jinns if and when they want us to see them.
Jinns can appear in the form of dead people as well. Ghosts and spirits don’t exist; they take shapes of dead people.
Jinns have the strength of 40/50/60 human men. It must be their healthy diet.
Jinns could turn mass into energy and back into mass. E=mc^2. Einstein knew what he was talking about apparently.
Jinns live much longer than us, thousands and thousands of years. I’d mess with humans too with that kind of time in my hands.
Jinns can run through you like your blood does and give you thoughts.

Djinn/ Djinn Tribes

There are six major tribes of Jinn / Djinn. They are; Jinn / Djinn, Jann, Marid, Shaitan, Ifrit, and the Ghul.

History of Tribes

Long before our time, the great Jinn sheikh Al Yazid had a vision of a giant scythe splitting a great Djinni in half. In order to survive, Al Yazid told the Djinn tribes that they must all choose to side with mortals, or against them. The elders of both the Djinn and the Jann chose to aid the side of mortals. However, the Shaitan, Ifrit and the Ghul were all corrupted by the demonic powers and chose to fight against moral interests. The elders of the Marid tribe were very proud creatures and allowed each individual to choose for themselves which they would side with.Since that time, however, the race of DJinn / Djinn has evolved.

There were members of each tribe that disagreed with the decisions made by the elders. Members of the Shaitan, Ifrit, and Ghul decided that humans were not as bad as they once thought and therefore, formed sub-tribes befriending humans along the way. There were those in the Jinn , Jann and Marid tribes that also disagreed, left and formed sub-tribes vowing to go against humans whenever possible.

The Jinn are one of God’s creations like humans and angels. God says, “I created jinn and mankind only to worship Me.” [51:56] . Jinn are created from smokeless fire

The Qur’an states that jinn are created from smokeless fire (55:15). In another verse, it clarifies that this fire is scorching and penetrates as deep as the inner part of the body (15:27)

Name and Types of Djinn/Jinn

Allah has created different types of jinn. Among them are some who can take on different forms, such as dogs and snakes; some who are like flying winds with wings; and some who can travel and rest. Abu Tha’labah al-Khushani said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

The Jinn Ghoul

The ghoul are shape-shifting, cannibalistic, and blood-drinking creatures that feed on the flesh of human beings,Especially travelers, children or corpses stolen out of graves. There are several types of ghoul. The most feared is a female type (ghoul) which has the ability to appear as a normal, mortal woman. According to lore, such a creature marries an unsuspecting man, who becomes her prey.

The hinn

The hinn are jinn, close to animals, and they especially like to appear as dogs.

In Miraculous Aspects of Things Existing (Arabic – كتاب عجائب المخلوقات وغرائب الموجودات), or The Book of Jinn, Zakarīyā’ ibn Muḥammad al-Qazwīnī claimed to have sighted these creatures in Arabia, Persia, and India. The book contains several pages dedicated to this particular Jinn.

Jann

Jann are shape-shifters who live in the desert, and take the forms of whirlwinds and white camels. Are open-minded about humans, and were among the first djinn encountered by people. Have the power to hide or reveal oases in the desert, depending on whether they like or dislike a party of travelers. They are the enemies of the ghoul.

Marid

Marid (Arabic: مارد‎ mārid), is a large and powerful jinn. Marids are mentioned in pre-Islamic Arabian mythology and inside the One Thousand and One Nights alongside the Jinn in the story of The Fisherman and the Jinni. Marids are often described as the most powerful type of jinn, having especially great powers. They are the most proud as well.

Shaytann

In Islam the Devil is known as Iblīs (Arabic: إبليس‎, plural: ابالسة abālisah) or Shayṭān (Arabic: شيطان‎, plural: شياطين shayāṭīn). In Islam Iblis is a jinn who refused to bow to Adam (ʾĀdam). The primary characteristic of the Devil, besides hubris, is that he has no power other than the power to cast evil suggestions into the chests of men, women, and jinn.

Shiqq

The shiqq is a lower form of djinn, a half creature,or literally only half-formed and thus monstrous in appearance.

Muḥammad al-Qazwīnī included Kabandha, the creature from the Southeast-Asian epic, Ramayana, as a Shiqq Jinn.

SI’LAT

The si’lat are expert shape-shifters and the smartest of the djinn. They can mimic human appearance with ease

Ifrit

Ifrit are known to live in societies that are much like human worlds. They have royalty and social ranking that follows

the example of Arabic tribal lines including tribes and clans. While they prefer to marry other Ifrit, they are known to

be able to marry humans and have children with them. Ifrit are also known to have the power to grant wishes.

Qareen

The Qareen are perhaps one of the most interesting breeds of Jinn. It is thought that every person in the world is

born with their own Qareen. This Qareen is the part of the human that causes them to do bad things and sin. It is

possible to train the Qareen to become a servant, but it is thought that this process takes many years and can be dangerous.

Vetala

The Vetala are often thought of as the original vampires and are a truly terrifying type of Jinn because they are able to possess corpses and prevent them from decaying.

Vetala are also extremely intelligent and are thought to be natural psychics. They are often said to have the ability to read thoughts and tell a person’s future
